Prerequisites. The programme requires significant academic background in economics, finance, mathematics, and statistics (Master's level). PhD in Finance candidates who may be lacking in these fields will be asked to complete remedial courses prior to joining the programme. Core Courses.

Applicants are evaluated by a committee. Students who plan on pursuing PhD studies are encouraged to take the Advanced Theory Specialization on campus.

PhD Minor in Finance Students from other University of Arizona doctoral programs can earn a PhD minor in finance by selecting one of two tracks and completing four graduate-level finance courses. There are two required prerequisites as well, both being offered in the summer prior to starting the program.
